Joseph Norris
Joseph Norris is an artist currently based in Nottingham. He studied at the University of Northampton, completing both his Ba(hons) Fine art painting & drawing in 2019, and progressed straight into an MA in Fine art, which he completed in 2021.
Working in the medium of oil paint on canvas, his work seeks to utilise historical painting techniques, and the visual characteristics of analogue imagery, to explore moments of natural manipulation to the surface of classical paintings in situ.
Most recently, he has engaged in the University of Northampton annual research conference, presenting his talk ‘Translation of historical paintings and their environment: Comprehending visual apparency and natural substance’ (2023). In addition to this, Joseph was also a part of a Two- person exhibition titled ‘Mirror Translation’ at General Practice project space, Lincoln (2022-2023).
